Walkera Vitus Review

The responsiveness of Chinese industry is impressive. Hardly has DJI's Mavic Pro come out, and finally available in quantities that satisfy the pre-orders, here is another Chinese manufacturer, Walkera, announces a similar device, at least on the look side. The resemblance is astonishing, with motor arms with different heights that fold under the main structure, and with a small radio remote control. Is the photocopy successful? Difficult to say as long as the device has not been tested. Especially since, based on our experience, the Walkera units are of very variable quality depending on the model.

Characteristics

This quadricopter weighs 870 grams (with its battery), a little more than the Mavic Pro - it will not escape the law drones of October 2016. It is equipped with a positioning system GPS and Glonass, 3 sensors to The front for obstacle detection and avoidance, and an optional vertical camera. The camera at the front is mounted on a stabilized platform on 3 axes, a bit like the Karma of GoPro. Capable of filming in 4K at 30 frames per second, it is not miniaturized like that of the Mavic Pro, but rather a footprint similar to that of the GoPro Hero Session. It is connected to a 1080p digital video transmission system. The battery of the Vitus is a Lipo 3S of 5200 mAh which ensures, according Walkera, a autonomy of 25 minutes. The dimensions ? It measures, unfolded, 25,5 cm in length, 27,5 cm in width, 11 cm in height. Folded, it measures 23.6 x 11.5 x 8.8 cm.

And…

The Walkera photocopier also retained the back of the DJI Inspire to imagine the look of the Vitus fairing. The small format radio breaks with the previous huge models like the Devo F12. The influence of the Mavic Pro is obvious: the new Devo F8-S is compact, minimalist (without display), with supports for a mobile phone. Not in front of the radio as for the Mavic Pro, but above. It was necessary to distinguish, at least a little. The Vitus is controllable from the remote control to take advantage of the precision of its joysticks and a beautiful range, but it can also be controlled from a smartphone, at the price of a lower range. The software offering promises automated flights with waypoints, and virtual reality games that get embedded on real-time video feedback. When? How many ? Walkera promises availability for March 2017, with a price around $ 600 (excluding taxes).
Additionally, if you happen need to purchase some rc quads, you can choose Banggood, which is one of the wholesale platform to provide affordable prices, such as cheerson quadcopter, cx-20 firmware, etc.
