DJI Inspire 2: redundancy and front camera

The Inspire 1 is used by many professionals to make efficient flights without having to deploy a large format machine. The new version was much awaited. What's new ? The main structure, made of magnesium alloy and aluminum, has been reinforced, assures DJI. The aircraft is now capable of reaching 108 km / h. Not bad to go quickly on the spot to film, then come back as fast. Autonomy is estimated at 27 minutes. It is provided by a system of two independent and heated batteries. It is possible to leave with two batteries for a complete autonomy and a redundancy in case of worry with one of the two. DJI ensures that flights are possible up to temperatures of -20 ° C!

The keyword: redundancy!

Dji-inspire-two-02-1200Inspire 2 also flies with a single battery, but shorter and without taking advantage of redundancy. Component redundancy also includes GPS, altimeter barometer, and ESC. The aircraft can fly up to an altitude of 5000 meters - let us understand, it does not mean that it can fly from the ground up to 5000 meters, DJI simply guarantees that its sensors, notably the altimeter barometer, Lifting power ensures its smooth operation up to 5000 meters. Obstacle detection and avoidance tools have been integrated into the Inspire 2: Stereo cameras are placed at the front and at the bottom, complemented by infrared sensors on top. This improves flight safety during tricky maneuvers, especially when passing in front of, on and under obstacles.

Everything for the video!

Dji-inspire-deux-05-1200New that the pilots will love: at the front of the Inspire 2 there is a non-stabilized 2-axis camera (pitch and roll, with the pitch controllable from 0 to 60 °) Control the device. The main video camera stabilized by a nacelle is therefore entirely intended for the cameraman to concentrate on the capture of the images. At the core of image processing is CineCore 2.0. It is a built-in chassis tool that handles heavy computations to facilitate the storage of video files. It adapts to the camera that is placed on the Inspire 2. The fact that it is no longer in the camera makes it lighter and easier to mount. The videos are stored in 5.2K / 30 frames per second at 4.2 Gb / s, in CinemaDNG on SSD media.

Two new stabilized cameras

Dji-xquatres-02-1200Inspire 2 can accommodate two new stabilized cameras. The first is the Zenmuse X4S offers a 1-inch, 20-megapixel sensor with a dynamic range of 11.6 stops, with a focal length of 24 mm. This entry level camera can be replaced by the Zenmuse X5S, which relies on a sensor in Micro 4/3 format. It covers a dynamic range of 12.8 stops and opens up to F / 1.7. She also films in 5.2K / 30 and 4K / 30 in format Apple ProRes2. Or in 4K / 60 frames per second in H / 264. Or in 4K / 30 in H.265. The sensor is a 20.8 megapixel. The camera is compatible with DJI's 15mm lens, with 3 Panasonic lenses and 6 Olympus models.

And…

Dji-xcinqs-01-1200The rotation of the camera at 360 ° is no longer possible was already limited to 320 ° on the Inspire 1, but the Inspire 2 allows compensates by a soft rotation on the yaw, stabilized by the 3rd Axis of the camera. All settings, including focus, are made from the DJI GO application. The image of the stabilized camera is transmitted in long distance (4 km) via Lightbridge technology in 1080i / 50 and 720p / 60. As with the Inspire 1, this new model can be used with two radio controls, one for the driver and the other for the video camera. The distance between the two radio controls, therefore the two operators, can be up to 100 meters. The price ? Starting from 3339 €. Price of Zenmuse X4S: 699 €. Price of the Zenmuse X5S without lens: 1599 €. With lens (DJI): 2199 €.
